Run a Restaurant Demand Explained
By the Run a Restaurant Values team · Last updated August 2, 2026
Demand measures how many traders actively want an item right now. Value tells you what an item is worth; demand tells you how easily you can actually get that value. RARV lists demand on every item in the value list.
The five demand tiers
| Tier | What it means | What to pay |
|---|---|---|
| Low | Few traders want it; offers are rare | Ask 10–20% over value to accept it |
| Medium | Trades steadily at value | Trade at value |
| High | Sells quickly, often with competition | Up to 10% over value is fine |
| Very High | Multiple offers within minutes | 10–20% over value is normal |
| Extreme | Chased item; sellers set the terms | Expect to overpay significantly |
Why demand moves
- Updates and events — new content shifts attention overnight.
- Obtainability — once an item stops dropping, demand usually climbs.
- Content creators — a popular video can spike demand for days.
- Seasonality — holiday and event items rise around their season.
How to use demand when trading
Trade low-demand items away when someone genuinely wants one — those windows are short. Hold high and extreme demand items unless you are getting a clear overpay. Check both numbers on the value list, then confirm the totals with the trade calculator.
Frequently asked questions
Is a high-value item always a good trade?
No. A high-value, low-demand item can take days to move. Mid-value, high-demand items are usually more liquid.
How often does demand update?
Demand is reviewed alongside values every week, and sooner after major updates.
